If you double click the drive in Windows File Explorer, you will get an error message such as "You need to format the disk in drive before you can use it. The USB drive becomes RAW: When file system of your USB drive turns into RAW, you can neither open the partition nor access files in it.
As long as you do not perform a full / slow formatting and do not store data to the formatted drive, you have a good chance to get data back.
